Paris Dauphine University – PSL and Tsinghua University: a strategic academic partnership driven by excellence
The Executive Doctorate in Business Administration (EDBA) program at Université Paris Dauphine-PSL has built a strong and mutually trusted partnership with Tsinghua University and the Beijing National Accounting Institute (BNAI) in China. The joint EDBA program, based in Beijing at the renowned Tsinghua University, has grown rapidly over the past 12 years.
At Université Paris Dauphine-PSL, the program is led by Nicolas BERLAND, Director of the EDBA in China. More than 100 students (aged 40 to 62) from across China have already defended their EDBA theses, with a graduation ceremony held in Paris, France.
The EDBA Dauphine – Tsinghua – BNAI program in China was designed to foster leadership and research mindsets—key elements for meeting the challenges of senior management in both international and local environments.
The Executive DBA program enables managers to:
- Deepen their professional practices through research-based approaches
- Contribute to a precise understanding of their field
- Prepare for the complex analysis and decision-making processes required at the executive level.
The motto of the EDBA: "Rigorous applied research for practitioner-researchers."
Accompanying China’s remarkable transformations, EDBA candidates come from diverse professional backgrounds—including state-owned enterprises (SOEs), private SMEs, entrepreneurs, healthcare executives, CEOs, and consultants.
Candidates join the EDBA program to collaborate and network with peers and faculty members. They form a passionate and diverse group of working professionals united by their desire to share and expand their experiences and qualifications, engage in research methodology with scientific rigor, develop applied research, and stay connected to current best business practices in China and globally.
Neither English nor French is mandatory, as three languages—French, English, and Chinese—are supported with professional and academic translators. This offers a valuable opportunity for successful Chinese entrepreneurs and CEOs to benefit from an international education experience.
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution. A minimum of 10 to 15 years of senior management experience is required. Over the course of three years, each participant is expected to complete 48 days of research seminars, take part in a study trip to Paris (France) or another location, and accumulate 60 ICTS credits in coursework plus 120 credits for research and thesis defense, typically completed in the fourth year.
